Facebook allows users to say anything they want to nearly everyone on the planet, and often times this is a very bad thing. This type of power can easily result in job loss. Two years ago, in Green Ohio, a teacher was fired from his tutoring job at Green Elementary School after posting his personal beliefs about the treatment of animals on dairy farms (BRIEF: Vegan teacher sues Wayne County district over Facebook post that cost him job par. 2). A few months later, a Nordstrom's employee in Portland was fired due to his Facebook post regarding police and the deaths of innocent civilians. His post went viral on twitter and shortly after, he was fired (Marum par. 2). It is unfortunate because if these people would have just avoided Facebook all together, they would have kept their jobs and would not have to worry about finding a new job. Although it is not Facebook’s fault that these people voiced their opinions, Facebook is a very powerful way to reach millions of people, which is why some run into problems. There is an old saying, “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say it at all;” Facebook now makes it much easier to say it, and say it a very big way.
